Some of our prominent polygynously natured Men

This list consists of men who practice(d) polygyny officially, and some who did not, and also others who struggled with monogamy. Where we indicate men in prominent positions who were unfaithful to their partners, we acknowledge that infidelity is not the base for good representation of polygyny. It merely demonstrates the struggle of men in attempting to repress their biological nature, in which context they are not directed to assume polygyny as an option for expression of such nature, and their behaviors becoming distorted and manifesting as infidelity.

Akon

American singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and actor, now living in Africa, is known for openly discussing his participation in, and views on, polygyny. He himself has stated that he has more than one wife, but has not disclosed how many.

Ben Ami Ben-Israel

According to the Hebrew Israelite community, in 1966, Ben Ammi received a vision from the angel Gabriel, who told him to lead African-Americans to Israel to establish the long-awaited Kingdom of God. At the time of his death, he had four wives—Tikvah, Yoninah, Baht Zion and Baht Ammi—as well as 25 children, 45 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Bob Marley

Although Bob Marley lacked the demonstration of a cohesive polygynous structure that some of us may aspire to, he made no apology for his position or right to have multiple "Queens". (Jamaica - Feb 6, 1945 - May 11, 1981)

Elijah Muhammad

The leader of the Nation of Islam at its onset from 1934 until his transition in 1975. (United States, Georgia October 7, 1897-February 25, 1975)

Fela Anikulapo Kuti

Fela Kuti, a widely known and honored musician and activist, is also known for having married the women whom he referred to as the "Queens". (Nigeria - October 15, 1938 - August 2, 1997)

Malachi Z. York

The founder of the Nuwabian Nation, Dr. York openly practiced polygyny. (Boston, MA - June 26, 1945 - Presently imprisoned)

Noble Drew Ali

Noble Drew Ali, was an American who founded the Moorish Science Temple of America. He was known to have had several wives. (January 8, 1886 – July 20, 1929)

Oba Adefunmi II

HRM Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi II, decreed King of Yoruba people of North America (Ọba ti America) and Oyotunji in 2005 by H.I.M. Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Ooni of Ife. Last time we checked he had at least 2 wives. (December 21, 1976 - Present)

Oba Oseijeman

Oba Efuntola Oseijeman Adelabu Adefunmi, born Walter Eugene King, was the first documented African-American initiated into the priesthood of the Yoruba religion, who would then go on to become the first African-American to be crowned Oba (King) of the Yoruba of North America in Ile Ife, Nigeria. (October 5, 1928 – February 11, 2005)

R Kelly

Robert Sylvester Kelly is an African-American singer, songwriter, record producer, and former professional basketball player. He, and the women he has been in relationship with, have openly admitted to living together in a polygynous relationship. We do not condone any mental or sexual abuse, molestation, degradation or manipulative control of women that he has been accused or may be guilty of.

Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein had half a dozen girlfriends and told his wife they showered him with "unwanted" affection, according to his own letters that shed light on his extramarital affairs. He described about six women with whom he spent time intimately, including his secretary, and from whom he received gifts while being married.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

This Austrian-American actor and 38th Governor of California, admitted publicly that he had fathered a child with the couple’s long-time cleaning lady, Mildred Patricia Baena. The child out of wedlock was 14 years old at the time of the announcement.

Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States, governor and attorney general of Arkansa, just couldn't seem to maintain a faithful monogamous relationship with his wife. Arkansas troopers assigned to guard then Governor Clinton recall seeing him in "delicate situations" with several different women. The most famous instance was his encounter with 21-year-old White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Jay Z

American billionaire, rapper, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, and record executive Jay-Z admitted to cheating on his wife. He said, “The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself.”

John F Kennedy

Mr. Kennedy, 35th president of the United States, slept with White House workers, gangster's wives, staff reporters, movie stars, and goodness knows who else. One notable entertainer JFK was involved with was Marilyn Monroe.

Martin Luther King (allegedly)

The Great Martin Luther King, known for his civil rights advocacy and activism, is also known by some to have a “weakness for women.” He is said to have had a difficult time with this temptation, and of his engagements with other women were largely kept out of the media. Muhammad Ali

The Greatest of All Time boxers, was known also for his high sex drive, who couldn't seem to help himself in taking advantage of numerous relationship opportunities with women. Ali was married 4 times and had children from other women as well during his marriages. (January 17, 1942 - June 3, 2016)

Notorious BIG

The African-American rapper, Christopher George Latore Wallace, known professionally as The Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls, or Biggie, is known for his relationships and affairs with Lil' Kim and others other than his wife Faith Evans during the time of their marriage.

Ray Charles

This Black American singer-songwriter, musician, and composer had a number of extensive relationship "affairs" during his marriage that resulted 3 children born by 3 different women. (September 23, 1930 – June 10, 2004)

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson, Founding Father who served as the 3rd president of the United State, is reported to have engaged in an affair with his slave Sally Hemings. The affair resulted in Jefferson fathering five children by her. Upon Jefferson's death, his will stated that Hemings and her children were to be freed.

Tiger Woods

Reports that Woods, successful American professional golfer, had slept with up to 19 mistresses during his five-year marriage to Nordegren — and his public apology admitting to his wrongdoing — led to their divorce in 2010
