This list consists of men who practice(d) polygyny officially, and some who did not, and also others who struggled with monogamy. Where we indicate men in prominent positions who were unfaithful to their partners, we acknowledge that infidelity is not the base for good representation of polygyny. It merely demonstrates the struggle of men in attempting to repress their biological nature, in which context they are not directed to assume polygyny as an option for expression of such nature, and their behaviors becoming distorted and manifesting as infidelity.

American singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and actor, now living in Africa, is known for openly discussing his participation in, and views on, polygyny. He himself has stated that he has more than one wife, but has not disclosed how many.
According to the Hebrew Israelite community, in 1966, Ben Ammi received a vision from the angel Gabriel, who told him to lead African-Americans to Israel to establish the long-awaited Kingdom of God. At the time of his death, he had four wives—Tikvah, Yoninah, Baht Zion and Baht Ammi—as well as 25 children, 45 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Noble Drew Ali, was an American who founded the Moorish Science Temple of America. He was known to have had several wives. (January 8, 1886 – July 20, 1929)
HRM Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi II, decreed King of Yoruba people of North America (Ọba ti America) and Oyotunji in 2005 by H.I.M. Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Ooni of Ife. Last time we checked he had at least 2 wives. (December 21, 1976 - Present)
Oba Efuntola Oseijeman Adelabu Adefunmi, born Walter Eugene King, was the first documented African-American initiated into the priesthood of the Yoruba religion, who would then go on to become the first African-American to be crowned Oba (King) of the Yoruba of North America in Ile Ife, Nigeria. Robert Sylvester Kelly is an African-American singer, songwriter, record producer, and former professional basketball player. He, and the women he has been in relationship with, have openly admitted to living together in a polygynous relationship. We do not condone any mental or sexual abuse, molestation, degradation or manipulative control of women that he has been accused or may be guilty of.

The African-American rapper, Christopher George Latore Wallace, known professionally as The Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls, or Biggie, is known for his relationships and affairs with Lil' Kim and others other than his wife Faith Evans during the time of their marriage.
This Black American singer-songwriter, musician, and composer had a number of extensive relationship "affairs" during his marriage that resulted 3 children born by 3 different women. (September 23, 1930 – June 10, 2004)
Thomas Jefferson, Founding Father who served as the 3rd president of the United State, is reported to have engaged in an affair with his slave Sally Hemings. The affair resulted in Jefferson fathering five children by her. Upon Jefferson's death, his will stated that Hemings and her children were to be freed.
